I am the founder and sole owner of Pipe Fantasy AS. I’m a computer enthusiast who enjoys programming in various languages, and I’ve been at it since the 80’ies. From my first computer (Sharp MZ 700) and programming BASIC up to today I’ve done lots of interesting stuff.
After college I went to work for an e-commerce company. I worked there with all sorts of things, but generally it involved sending a business document like an order, invoice, dispatch advice, customs declaration, money transfer from one company to another, this was very educational and I enjoyed it a lot for the most part. I worked for 10+ years with B2B e-commerce.
Now I am trying to make it as an independent game creator. I’ve quit my day job and put my savings into Pipe Fantasy AS, my new company. It’s a long way to go from doing integration projects in the B2B world to working on 3D graphics on new platforms (for me) like the iOS and Android, but I am enjoying it a lot so far.
As a way of learning the ropes I am doing a small and relatively easy to make game. At least that was the plan, but it seems to be growing and growing. The simple solitaire card game I had in mind seems to have become a lot bigger than intended. I probably need to plan better for my next project.
Pipe Fantasy AS
This is my company. It’s brand new and I have no idea what I am doing. I will learn as I go along. Right now I am in what you might say is the development phase, I am working on my first game; Solitaire Backpacker which I plan to sell on the app store. Simple enough business plan. Things that scare me here include taxes, accounting and generally feeling like I’m in way over my head. But it’s a bit exciting too, and I must say it feels good to own my own company.
I was planning to call my company Pipe Dreams but it seemed a loudspeaker company beat me to it, and when I couldn’t have the .com address I started browsing dictionaries and ended up with Fantasy instead of Dreams which I liked because I am a big fan of the fantasy genre, and RPG’s in general. Maybe one day I will make my own RPG, that’d be a dream come through. I like that there isn’t currently anything associated with “Pipe Fantasy”, not literally at least, but in meaning I feel like it’s got the whole “unobtainable dream” concept intact. Which is how I feel about this company. It’s my dream to make games and have a successful game studio, but I also know it will not be easily achieved.
As I progress in my endeavor to design and create apps, market and sell them on to the world, I will try to blog about it whenever I can. I invite you to follow me on my journey and read about how it goes.
